Press Statement of Kim Yo Jong, Vice
Department Director of C.C., WPK
Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the
Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued the following press
statement on Friday:
On October 31, the UN secretary-general made public the stand of him who
unreasonably takes issue with the recent test-fire of a strategic weapon conducted
by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) via a spokesperson.
I express my strong dissatisfaction and categorically reject the unfair and prejudiced
attitude of the UN secretary-general taking issue with the DPRK's just exercise of its
right to self-defence.
I emphasize once again the point that the relevant activity of the DPRK is a part of
our due and just exercise of the right to self-defence for sending a clear warning to
the recent negative influence on the security environment of the DPRK and the
various actions and plans of the outside forces escalating it in a planned way and for
defending sovereignty and security from daily-increasing possible threats.
The UN secretary-general has consistently kept mum about the U.S. and its allies'
anti-DPRK rhetoric and acts with a strong aggressive coloring that become the main
cause of the escalated military tension, but stuck to prejudiced and stupid efforts to
take issue only with the DPRK's right to self-defence and make it give it up. I can not
but express regret at such behavior.
Does the UN secretary-general think that if we unilaterally restrain ourselves in the
environment in which countries hostile against us have formed a military bloc based
on nukes and inflicted a serious injury on the security of our state through
unprecedented political and military provocations, peace can be ensured on the
Korean peninsula?
In case the balance of strategic forces is destroyed on the Korean peninsula owing
to the unlimited allowance for the hegemonic forces' military buildup aiming at
"superiority of strength", can the UN secretary-general cope with a catastrophic
consequence to be entailed by it?
The UN secretary-general should no longer remain a passive onlooker to the U.S.
and its allies' moves for arms buildup against the DPRK which have steadily updated
their highest record.

The UN secretary-general should clearly understand that his prejudiced stand on the
Korean peninsula issue is acting as a factor of further aggravating the regional
situation and inciting the hostile acts of the U.S. and its followers against the DPRK.
The UN secretary-general should not lose impartiality in fulfilling his important duty
but stop a shameful act of volunteering to act as a spokesman for the U.S.
Department of State.
The head of our state clearly reaffirmed the stand of the DPRK government
yesterday, too.
There can never be a change of the line.
Have sanction, pressure and threats stopped us?
They have only made us stronger.
If one is not a fool, one should not do a stupid act of expecting our change.
The DPRK will never tolerate any attempt to threaten the security environment of the
state. -0-
